Styes

A stye is a red pimple-like bump that forms on the eyelid either on the outer part of the upper or lower eyelid or on the inner eyelid, facing the eyeball. A stye can be sore and painful. While most styes will eventually go away on their own, an optometrist can help alleviate discomfort by draining the stye, prescribing antibiotic or steroid treatment, or advising other measures.
